Luka Doncic praises Mavericks fans in response to questions about Nico Harrison's dismissal

Doncic Shares Love for Mavericks Fans After Harrison’s Firing

Luka Doncic is clearly winning the hearts of Mavericks fans following the dismissal of Nico Harrison.

After Harrison was let go by Mavericks owner Patrick Dumont, Doncic expressed his affection for the Dallas supporters and acknowledged the news of Harrison’s firing.

When asked about the situation, Doncic said, “The city of Dallas, the fans, the players, they will always have a special place in my heart.” He continued, reflecting on his time there, “I thought I was going to stay there forever, but that wasn’t the case. So it’s always going to be a special place for me. I’ll always call it home. But right now, I’m focused on the Lakers and trying to move forward. There’s definitely a part of me that’s still there, but I’m trying to concentrate on what we’re doing here.”

Following Doncic’s trade to the Lakers—where he was exchanged for Anthony Davis, Max Christie, and a first-round pick—Mavericks fans were understandably upset.

They showed their discontent by protesting outside the American Airlines Arena and chanting “Fire Nico” during games. In one instance, fans were even ejected from a home game due to an anti-Harrison sign.

The Mavericks hinted through the media that Doncic’s trade was largely influenced by concerns over his conditioning and diet, something that caught many off guard.

Despite this, Doncic has maintained a respectful distance when discussing his former team, choosing to avoid engaging in any media drama.

Since the trade, the Lakers have been faring well, mostly thanks to their revamped roster featuring Doncic.

Last season, the Lakers faced challenges in the first round of the playoffs, but things look more promising now with improved shooting and team dynamics.

Although LeBron James has missed the early season due to sciatica, the Lakers hold an 8-4 record, largely driven by Doncic and teammate Austin Reeves.

James is reportedly working hard to return in the coming weeks.

On the flip side, the Mavericks recently lost Kyrie Irving to a torn ACL shortly after Doncic’s departure, while Davis has had injuries of his own in Dallas, only playing in 14 of the 44 available games.

At the start of this season, the Mavericks find themselves at 3-9, even with the addition of No. 1 pick Cooper Flagg.
