Ride-hailing service Lyft announced it will offer discounts on rideshares, bikeshares and scooters on Election Day in an effort aimed at increasing transportation access for voters, according to a press release.

Lyft will offer a 50 percent discount to customers who use certain codes when heading to the polls on Election Day, the release said. This code will be valid from 5am to 10pm in each time zone.
Lyft will also partner with TV personalities Serena Page, Cordell Beckham and Sasha Colby to encourage voters to head to the polls in November.
Lyft has already helped more than 3 million people vote this year and promises to increase rides to polling places by 25%, according to the release. Lyft has an overall goal of adding 500,000 new voters by 2028.
According to data provided by Lyft, the longest rides to polling places are in Texas, Georgia, and Mississippi, ranging from 8.3 miles to 9.8 miles, respectively. The shortest ride distances are in Rhode Island, New Hampshire, and Washington, each ranging from 4.5 miles to 5.1 miles.
In Illinois, the longest a voter has waited in line is 61 minutes, according to the report. New Jersey and Nevada had the next two longest wait times at 58 minutes. The shortest wait times were 27 minutes in Minnesota, 33 minutes in Michigan, and 34 minutes in North Carolina.
The report also found that Georgia saw a 20 percent increase in rides to polling places on Election Day, and a 12 percent increase in key battleground states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
