In-N-Out Heir Addresses Boycott Calls After Moving to Tennessee

Linci Snyder, the heir to the In-N-Out Burger fortune, has responded to backlash following her family’s decision to relocate from California to Tennessee. This move came after some called for a boycott of the popular fast-food chain.

“Raising my family has nothing to do with my love for my California clients,” Snyder stated on Instagram.

Snyder reaffirmed her choice to close the Irvine office in California and establish a new office building spanning 100,000 square feet in Franklin, Tennessee, located just south of Nashville.

“This is part of a healthy growth plan, plus there are many opportunities for home ownership in Tennessee and possibly in nearby states,” she explained.

While she acknowledged the challenges of living in California, she clarified, “This isn’t about a lack of love for the state. I want to make family dreams more achievable for our clients.”

Snyder emphasized that they “will never forget our roots,” reminding customers that In-N-Out’s headquarters remain in California.

“We’re not abandoning the In-N-Out headquarters,” she noted. “Alongside our Baldwin Park office, we’re expanding our Eastern Territory Office in Tennessee to support our growth.”

As the company president since 2010, Snyder faced criticism when she shared that raising a family and managing business in California was quite challenging.

She outlined the “pressures and obstacles” the company faces, which include crime and the impacts of past COVID-19 restrictions.

“It’s great to have an office there and raise our families together,” Snyder remarked during an appearance on a podcast.

Despite some customers accusing her of abandoning the state responsible for the chain’s success, many expressed support for her expansion efforts.

“Time to boycott In-N-Out,” a user proclaimed on social media, while another countered, “This sounds so ridiculous. California has helped her family thrive.”

On the other hand, supporters voiced their agreement with Snyder, pointing out that California isn’t very business-friendly.

Ultimately, the new In-N-Out location in Tennessee is projected to open by 2026. However, Snyder declined invitations to open locations in Florida and various East Coast states.

She reflected on the company’s history, saying, “I’m really proud of how In-N-Out started. Everyone knows how California customers helped us grow. We’ve been expanding since 1992, and moving to new areas brings fresh opportunities for both our team and our clients.”
