Nancy Mace Reacts to Typo in New York Magazine
Rep. Nancy Mace found herself at the center of a significant error made by New York Magazine. On Monday, the magazine mistakenly claimed that “Nancy Mace” was facing allegations of sexual misconduct, a mix-up where the intended reference was actually to Nancy Feldman, the former women’s soccer coach at Boston University.
According to Alex Cooper, host of “Call Her Daddy,” Feldman is the subject of allegations in her upcoming Hulu documentary, “Call Her Alex.” Cooper reveals that the former coach has been accused of sexual harassment.
New York Magazine’s tweet about the incident was quickly deleted—within about an hour—and replaced with a correction. However, by that time, Mace had already seen it and expressed her outrage. “We’re requesting an immediate withdrawal and a full revision,” she stated on X. “You can’t fill me up with lazy and dangerous typos.”
Mace further emphasized that she has never met Cooper or been a coach for the Boston University soccer team. “And I’ve never sexually harassed anyone,” she clarified in a follow-up post, urging anyone repeating the error to either correct it or face legal action.
Cooper’s documentary alleges that sexual harassment began for her during her sophomore year at a prestigious school, pointing specifically at Feldman.
Feldman, who retired after 22 years as the head coach of the Boston University women’s soccer team in 2022, is facing allegations from Cooper who claims Feldman made inappropriate comments about her body and personal life. Moreover, she alleges that Feldman physically invaded her space by touching her thighs and staring at her.
As of now, Boston University has not responded to requests for comment regarding the incident. New York Magazine also opted not to comment on the error or on Mace’s subsequent statements, although they did share an article with corrected information.
Interestingly, Mace has previously accused her ex-fiancé and several business partners of sexual misconduct against her and other women, which these individuals have denied.
