Macklemore accidentally performed a duet with a fugitive onstage while headlining Slovakia’s Lovestream Festival on Saturday.
The “Thrift Shop” hitmaker, 41, greeted fans during his performance on the main stage, but the woman apparently forgot that she had a warrant out for her arrest.
The 24-year-old concert-goer was brought onstage to perform Macklemore’s hit “Downtown” when a stranger in the crowd noticed the woman being chased by police.
This accidental blunder was good news for the local authorities, who were ready to arrest her immediately.
in Facebook Post Authorities released a statement about the incident, which was shared on the official Slovak police page, describing it as a “strange situation.”
“While one of the foreign interpreters was performing, an audience member also came on stage and sang along. [Macklemore] “It seems she enjoyed performing with her idol,” the translated statement read.
“The woman has been forever telling this experience and boasting about it on social networks, but at the same time it caught the eye of an observant citizen who follows the MV SR site. This citizen recognised the woman, realised that he had just seen her on the website mentioned above and immediately contacted the police.”
“Police then said the woman on stage [identified as an] “The court arrested an adult man and detained a 24-year-old woman from Bratislava, who escaped a prison sentence that the court had ordered,” the agency added.
“The woman was then taken to the facility’s grounds for detention.”
The Post has reached out to Macklemore’s representatives for comment.
The social media post included a photo of Macklemore with his arm around a woman onstage.
Local police did not disclose the charges she faces, but Local news media She reportedly had $900 in unpaid fines related to the 2019 incident.
Macklemore, whose real name is Ben Haggerty, was just one of the rappers who graced the stage over the weekend.
Other stars who headlined the festival included 50 Cent, Rita Ora, Chase & Status and Tiesto.
