Home Invasion at Macklemore’s Seattle Residence
The Seattle home of rapper Macklemore was reportedly targeted in a robbery over the weekend while his three children were asleep inside. The children’s nanny reported that she encountered the intruders during the incident.
According to her statement to police, two men entered the house through an unlocked patio door just after midnight on Saturday, using bear mace to subdue her. They demanded to know “where the jewel” was, as stated in a police report.
After allegedly helping her clear her vision from the spray, the men restrained her and went through the house, rummaging through drawers, cabinets, and closets. It was reported that they stole “thousands of dollars” worth of clothing, jewelry, watches, and shoes, as confirmed by Seattle police.
Details in the police report kept the homeowner’s name confidential, referring to him as a “famous individual,” yet the address matched Macklemore’s voting record, according to reports from local media.
The nanny described a harrowing situation where she was assaulted by the suspects, who threatened her and even put her on the ground. When she began to scream, they reportedly covered her mouth and tied her to a wall. However, she managed to escape by biting one of the suspects and fleeing through a bathroom window.
Upon escaping, she knocked on neighbors’ doors to use their phones to call for help, as she had difficulty being heard initially. She mentioned seeing one of the suspects wearing a black outfit, a face mask, and gloves, and noted that she would be able to recognize their eyes.
When police arrived, they ensured the safety of the three children, who were sleeping on the second floor at the time of the break-in. It’s not clear if Macklemore, whose real name is Benjamin Hammond Hagerty, was at home during the robbery.
Recent reports mentioned that the rapper had performed in Ireland just a few days before the incident. Inquiries have been made to a representative for Macklemore regarding the situation, but no comments have been released yet.
