A rising number of Republicans are rallying around President Trump’s “Make America Great Again” (MAGA) initiative, contributing to a significant increase in the overall number of Americans aligning with Trump’s well-known campaign slogan. As per a recent poll from NBC News.
More than 70% of Republicans who were queried in March polls expressed that they see themselves as part of the MAGA movement—up from 55% just prior to the November presidential election, when they anticipated Trump’s return to the White House this year.
The GOP’s alignment with Trump and his initiatives has led to a significant shift towards embracing the MAGA label and elevating it to new levels, research indicates.
While Trump is not the original politician to popularize the “Make America Great Again” slogan, this catchy phrase has become closely associated with the former reality TV personality and his political views, which have veered towards his ideology since the start of his initial successful presidential campaign nearly ten years ago.
Reportedly, according to NBC News, approximately one in five of those surveyed participated in the January 2024 elections. That figure nearly doubled to just below 40% in a poll conducted last month.
The change was particularly significant among men with college degrees, rising from 21% last fall to 37% in March.
The NBC News survey, carried out by the Nonpartisan Polls’ Public Opinion Strategy, included 1,000 registered voters through phone and online methods between March 7-11. The margin of error is 3.1 percentage points.
