Cifers will replace John McGuire, who recently vacated his seat following a successful parliamentary election. McGuire will succeed U.S. Rep. Bob Good after defeating him in the Republican primary in June.
In a statement to Blaze News, Cifers said:

I want to thank God for the inspiration and strength he has given me these past few months and throughout my life. A big thank you to my beautiful wife, Anastasia. Anastasia is my true love and best friend, and I am always amazed by her loyalty and support. And a huge thank you to my campaign team and all the volunteers.
Dear residents of District 10, I pledge to do everything in my power to keep my promise to you. I promise to be a uniter, a warrior, and do everything in my power to regain your trust, power, and authority.
10th Virginia Senate District — large district Schiffers' victory is not surprising since it lies roughly in the area between Lynchburg, Charlottesville and Richmond and is considered a Republican stronghold.
