Bronny James has arrived and the NBA world is welcoming him.
The Lakers selected LeBron James’ son with the 55th pick in the second round of the 2024 NBA Draft on Thursday, sparking a huge reaction across social media platforms.
Former Lakers legend Magic Johnson is among those excited to see how the new pairing with James will play out in the league.
“Congratulations to Bronny James on being drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers,” Johnson wrote to X.
“This is a historic moment because LeBron and Bronny are the first father and son to play on the same team at the same time in the NBA. Watching Bronny play for the Lakers in Las Vegas Summer League will be must-see TV!”
The 6-foot-2 guard out of the University of Southern California garnered attention around the league.
That included Chris Paul. I wrote to X: “Special!! Congratulations, Brony!”
Others couldn’t comprehend how surreal the moment was.
“Imagine being able to play with my son! This is historic. I have two sons myself and I could never have imagined what it would be like,” Zach LaVine said. Added.
Dejounte Murray I felt the same way.
“Seeing Bron wearing the same jersey as my son is such an honor 💪🏽 Thank you Bronny!!!!!,” he wrote to X.
Bronny was a strong performer at this year’s combine despite being limited in his collegiate appearances after suffering a cardiac arrest last summer.
He ranked third in 3-point shooting and sixth in vertical jump with 40.5 inches.
Now he has the chance to show what he can do at the highest level, alongside his father.
