Comedian Bill Maher blamed Democrats for President Trump's “cool” position in his first full week in office.
“It shows you how bad the Democrats are doing. Trump is cool now,” Maher asserted on Friday's episode of Max's “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
“He's not just the most powerful man in the world and presents himself as the richest person, he's actually some kind of person.” [cool] At 78 years old! ”
The comedian singled out rappers and athletes who have expressed goodwill for the president.
Hip-hop stars Nelly, Rick Ross, and Snoop Dogg all performed at President Trump's inauguration event, as did the Village People.
While Democrats have sought to counter Trump's popularity with fact-checking and media blitzes, strategist James Carville suggested people should allow their leaders to “ruin themselves.”
“He just says what he wants to say. He's going to keep pushing forward,” Carville said in an MSNBC interview Friday.
“And what we have to learn as Democrats is just let him beat himself up.”
In his first week in office, Trump signed several controversial executive orders, including one challenging birthright citizenship for the children of illegal immigrants.
The Democratic Party has pushed back against the recent measures in court and at press conferences, vowing to protect local residents.
