Bill Maher Critiques Golden Globes for Snubbing Joe Rogan

On a recent episode of his podcast “Club Random,” comedian Bill Maher expressed his disapproval of the Golden Globes, particularly for not including Joe Rogan in the nominations for Best Podcast this year. He described the awards as “smug” and pointed out that Rogan’s show, “The Joe Rogan Experience,” is often regarded as the most popular podcast and even seen as influential in the upcoming 2024 election.

Rogan identifies as a liberal, but he feels that modern Democrats are struggling to find a podcast that matches his reach. Despite the significance of his show, he did not receive a nomination for the new award category.

The nominees included various shows like Amy Poehler’s “Good Hang,” the feminist podcast “Call Her Daddy,” and NPR’s “Up First.”

Maher commented, “They only nominated, like, super woke people,” and acknowledged there were quality films but felt Rogan’s absence was glaring.

Guest Dana Carvey chimed in, affirming Maher’s point by praising Rogan’s skills in the podcasting space.

“We’re going to have our first podcast category, which really represents life in the Blue Sky bubble,” Maher stated. He indicated a desire for inclusivity but highlighted the challenges that come from the attitudes often found in Hollywood.

Carvey asked how many more liberals would echo Rogan’s sentiments, to which Maher replied, “Not that much.”

Previously, Maher had used the term “Blue Sky Bubble” to criticize the left-leaning platform that emerged as a Twitter alternative following Elon Musk’s acquisition. He emphasized that some issues, specifically those raised by non-liberals like the grooming gangs crisis in Britain, often go unheard in the liberal discourse.

Attempts to reach the Golden Globes for comments haven’t yielded a response as of yet.
