Main clues in Nancy Guthrie case indicating the suspected kidnapper is not 'a trained assassin': former FBI special agent

Kidnapping Suspect Lacks Professionalism, According to Ex-FBI Agent

A former FBI official suggested that the individual believed to have kidnapped Nancy Guthrie displayed amateurish behavior, indicating he likely isn’t a “trained assassin.” James Gagliano, a former Supervisory Special Agent, mentioned that a black glove discovered near the 84-year-old’s home could provide a useful lead for investigators.

Gagliano pointed out that surveillance footage showed the suspect approaching Guthrie’s residence with a holstered firearm, which he found unusual. “From what I see, he doesn’t seem like someone who’s been in this line of work for long,” he remarked during an appearance on “Fox & Friends” early Thursday.

He elaborated, stating, “The way this weapon is carried is unlike anything I’ve encountered in my 33 years of service. It looks like this operation was hastily put together, as though they received the holster from one person and the weapon from another.”

According to Gagliano, both the gun and the recovered black glove could signal mistakes made by the suspect that may help authorities advance in the case.

He raised an interesting point: “If that glove leads back to the suspect, and DNA is found, it could be crucial. Who commits a kidnapping and then drops evidence so close to where they live?”

Additionally, he noted that the gloves had similarities to those worn by the assailant seen in the surveillance footage, which could be beneficial for detectives working to locate Savannah Guthrie’s mother.

The glove incident potentially relates to DNA, which can yield various types of evidence, such as fingerprints and biological materials.

On Wednesday afternoon, reports indicated that an FBI evidence response team member was seen extracting a glove from desert shrubbery near Guthrie’s area outside Tucson.

Investigators have yet to comment on any possible evidence related to the case.
