A Maine police officer was accused of lying about a missing person case and later indicted on multiple charges, including falsifying a report claiming he actually took a 39-year-old missing man to the hospital.According to the convenience store Associated Press.
Washburn Police Sergeant Chandler Cole reportedly resigned from his position after being charged with aggravated forgery, falsifying public records or information, falsifying physical evidence, and forgery without oath.
Cole was arrested on May 29, according to reports.
Cole’s crime occurred on January 30th after the missing person was seen walking on the road and appeared to be in distress. The former police officer told Eric Foote’s parents that he took their child to the hospital. However, hospital records later confirmed that Foote failed to make it to the hospital, and Cole took Foote to a convenience store.

Town Manager Donna Turner said Washburn’s police chief retired earlier this year, Cole resigned in February, and a younger officer is now working elsewhere.
It is unclear why Cole lied about Foote’s whereabouts. The man’s mother, Brenda Foote, said: “There is no relief at this point because we still don’t have answers as to why the officer kept lying and tried to quit his job over it.” Told.
