Majority of Americans favor Trump on immigration, mass deportation: poll

A majority of Americans support mass deportations of immigrants who are in the US illegally, according to a new poll.

of Latest Scripps News/Ipsos PollThe poll released Wednesday found that while majorities of Republicans and independents support such a policy, only a quarter of Democrats are in favor.

The poll found that about 54 percent of respondents “strongly” or “somewhat” support the idea of ​​mass deportations.

More detailed results show a partisan split on the issue, with about 86% of Republicans and 58% of independents in favor, compared to just 25% of Democrats.

The poll also found that immigration remains a key political issue for Americans, ranking near the top of respondents' concerns.

Inflation was the top priority among respondents at 57%, with immigration coming in second at 39%.

On immigration, respondents said they thought Trump (44%) would be better able to handle the issue than Harris (34%).

The poll was conducted between September 13th and 15th, with 1,027 people aged 18 and over interviewed.

At the 95% confidence level, the margin of error is +/- 3.6 percentage points.
