Jeffree Star Critiques Progressive Parenting on Gender Issues
Makeup influencer Jeffree Star has expressed his disapproval of progressive parents who, in his view, impose gender and transgender topics on their children, referring to them as “fucking weirdos”.
The 40-year-old, known for his vibrant style, shared his thoughts during an appearance on a podcast, where he argued that no child should feel pressured to select a gender at a young age.
“Why are we promoting this idea that children should change their gender early on?” he questioned during an interview. “When I was growing up and I started to look different, my mom encouraged me to just embrace who I am. It wasn’t about, ‘Oh my God, Jeffrey needs—what is it now?—gender-affirming care?'”
He added, “It’s similar to when you were a tomboy. Did your parents make drastic changes to your body at 13? Nowadays, it’s as if some people tell kids, ‘Oh, you like Barbie dolls? That means you’re a girl!’ It’s just a little boy exploring and figuring things out.”
Starr declared that he simply looked feminine and never felt “sexual or weird” as a child. “Why introduce cartoons and transgender flags to kids? It seems too early,” he remarked. “Should a five-year-old watching an animated show on Netflix really need to learn about this?”
He further delved into the culture surrounding pronouns, stating that being gay, lesbian, or bisexual is a matter of sexual preference, not a question of gender. “You can identify as male, female, or transgender,” Starr clarified, emphasizing that one’s identity doesn’t dictate who they’re attracted to.
He also criticized the LGBTQI acronym, suggesting it should be simplified back to “LGB.” “Those identifying with Q and T should have their own space,” he insisted.
According to Starr, the distinction between sexual attraction and identity is crucial. “LGB is about what you are drawn to and what appeals to you—those things shouldn’t be conflated with your identity.” He has garnered attention before for his comments on non-binary pronouns, maintaining that terms like “they” and “them” complicate things unnecessarily.
“Are you transgender, male, or female?” he challenged in a recent podcast. “All these new terms seem to have emerged during the pandemic just because people were bored at home.”
