A 33-year-old man was shot and killed on a Brooklyn street Wednesday night, officials said. It was just two days after a beloved bodega employee was murdered half a mile away.
Ramin Barr was shot in the head outside the Ebbets Field Apartments on McKeever Place near Sullivan Place in Crown Heights just before 6 p.m., the NYPD said.
He was taken to Kings County Hospital by paramedics but could not be saved.
Police said it was unclear what led to the bloodshed.
Police were searching for two men who fled the gunfire scene on foot and headed northbound on Franklin Street.
The latest violence in Crown Heights comes days after liquor store worker Nazim Berry, 37, was shot in the back of the head after refusing to give his alleged killer a free cigarillo. .
Berry’s mother, Danette Hawley, told reporters that the confrontation erupted when the suspect asked her son for a $2 black and mild cigar without paying for it.
When Holley answered “no,” the suspect began arguing with Berry and then returned to the store, she said.
“They said they got into an argument … and the guy pointed the gun at the side of his head, the back of his head, and shot him,” Holley said.
Neighbors told the Post on Tuesday that they were concerned about escalating violence in the area.
A local resident said, “We are in a situation where we can no longer lead a normal life.”
