Man, 64, killed, firefighter hurt in NYC house fire: officials

A 64-year-old man was killed and firefighters were injured when the fire tore his Queens home early Friday, officials said.

The man was found on 46th Avenue on 46th Avenue near 39th Avenue in Sunnyside Garden, according to FDNY and NYPD.

He was declared dead at the scene, and his name was not released immediately.

According to FDNY and NYPD, the man was discovered to be unconsciously unresponsive in a two-storey homemade house on 46th Avenue near 39th Avenue in Sunnyside Garden.

Another firefighter was taken to Weill Cornell Medical Center with minor injuries, firefighters said.

12 FDNY units, including 60 fires and EMS personnel, responded to a flame that disappeared shortly after 4am

Authorities said the cause is under investigation by FDNY firefighters.
