Details on the Charlie Kirk Shooting Incident
New information has emerged regarding Tyler Robinson’s alleged role in the shooting incident involving Charlie Kirk. Washington County Sheriff Nate Brooksby shared that he received an alarming call during a press conference on Wednesday. A former law enforcement acquaintance informed him that 22-year-old Robinson was identified as the shooter.
It appears that Robinson had been grappling with suicidal thoughts, though his parents managed to convince him that he wouldn’t harm himself. Sheriff Brooksby mentioned that Robinson was aware of the impending capture and feared a SWAT raid on his home. He was particularly anxious about being shot by police officers.
“Tyler understood that, with all the law enforcement pressure, it was only a matter of time before he was caught,” Brooksby remarked. “He was aware that his images and firearms would inevitably be plastered across the news.”
According to Brooksby, the phone call from his friend took place at 8:02 PM on Thursday. The sheriff recalled, “His voice was shaky, and my first thought was, ‘Who died?’ I couldn’t have predicted what he was going to say.”
His friend revealed, “I know who the shooter is—Tyler. I’m connected to the family through a Religious Association, and he’s currently in Washington County. We’re working on encouraging him to surrender peacefully.”
During that conversation, details about Robinson’s suicidal tendencies were shared. As Brooksby traveled to a remote location in Washington County, the parents reassured Robinson that they would support him in a peaceful surrender.
Robinson expressed a desire for a “peaceful and gentle” surrender, which the sheriff accepted. Brooksby’s team did not question Robinson while they awaited the arrival of additional agents.
Touching on Robinson’s family and his partner, Lance Twiggs, Brooksby commented that “they need to be lowered for a long time,” although he didn’t elaborate on that point further.
Earlier that day, Brooksby informed Fox News that Twiggs was in a “safe place” far from St. George, Utah, where they lived. He added that law enforcement from other agencies was consulting with Twiggs for safety reasons.
Interestingly, the sheriff clarified that a Washington County Sheriff’s aide shares the Robinson surname but is not related to the shooter, contradicting some initial rumors. This clarification was crucial as the unrelated Robinson was facing harassment. A family member noted that Robinson’s transgender partner had lived with him for about a year.
A relative expressed deep concern, stating, “He despises conservatives and Christians; he wasn’t raised this way, but he became quite isolated over the years. It’s radical.” Another family member mentioned that he had been increasingly angry over the past couple of years.
Robinson is facing serious charges, including aggravated murder, two counts of obstruction of justice, and multiple firearm-related felonies.
Tragically, Charlie Kirk was attending his first event of his comeback tour when he was shot and killed last Wednesday. Officials indicated that Robinson had climbed onto the roof of Utah Valley University’s Loose Center in Orem, Utah, and fired a shot that struck Kirk in the neck.
Kirk was well-known as a conservative figure, actively promoting discussion among university students across the country before his untimely death.
