Florida Man Arrested After Airport Incident
A man from Florida has been apprehended following a series of bizarre events at an airport, including crashing his Mustang through a gate and trying to board planes. Brian J. Parker, 58, was caught on body camera footage admitting to the heavy use of drugs and alcohol, according to authorities and various reports.
The incident unfolded on Wednesday afternoon when Parker allegedly drove through a locked federal gate at Daytona Beach International Airport. This information comes from the Volusia County Sheriff’s Department.
According to reports from both Daytona Beach International Airport and local media, Parker drove his Ford Mustang across a taxiway and toward Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University before leaving the vehicle and attempting to board at least two aircraft.
During the chaotic four-minute span, he nearly collided with a student trainer plane on the taxiway. Body camera footage revealed deputies and airport personnel confronting Parker, who claimed to have no recollection of the events.
“I don’t remember. I was at home. I went to an AA meeting, and before I knew it, I was taking cocaine, drinking alcohol, and smoking marijuana,” he said in the footage released by officials.
When a deputy inquired about his actions, Parker simply replied, “Yeah, I crashed my car.”
As police escorted him into a squad car, he could be heard mumbling about his vehicle, “What’s my car doing over there?” Despite the chaos, authorities reported that no injuries occurred during the drug-induced incident.
Parker now faces numerous charges, including attempted aircraft piracy, robbery, felony trespassing at an airport, exposure of genitals, and criminal mischief. He also refused to comply with a search.
The Daytona Beach International Airport thanked witnesses who promptly notified 911 and acknowledged air traffic controllers for their quick actions in response to the incident. The airport emphasizes that the safety and security of travelers remain its top priority, though they are limited in what information can be shared due to the ongoing investigation.
