New York Man Pleads Guilty to Murdering Ex-Girlfriend

A man from New York has admitted to murdering and dismembering his former girlfriend after she ended their relationship. Damon Foy, 50, from Kerhonkson, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in the death of 44-year-old Alberta Dale from Pennsylvania, as stated by the Ulster County District Attorney’s Office.

Foy killed and dismembered Dale between March 31 and April 1, 2024, and was attempting to dispose of her body when law enforcement intervened. The investigation began on April 1 after Dale’s family reached out to the police, worried about her well-being. Authorities initially conducted a welfare check, which then escalated into a missing person case.

On that day, deputies discovered Dale’s car outside Foy’s apartment and later returned to question him after a member of the public found her phone nearby, which raised suspicions of foul play. During an interview with investigators, Foy reportedly confessed, softly stating, “She’s in there,” and admitting to having killed her.

Law enforcement obtained a search warrant for Foy’s residence, where they found a suitcase in a closet containing the victim’s remains. Upon examining the suitcase, officers immediately noticed what appeared to be dried blood. They discovered Alberta Dale’s severed head and partial dismembered body inside, while other parts of her remains were not located during the search.

Foy, during later questioning, claimed to have loved Dale, yet expressed feelings of resentment, asserting that she had taken advantage of him throughout their relationship. His feelings of betrayal appeared to surface, with comments about being forced to leave his home, which he felt was unfair.

He even mentioned a flower found in the suitcase, suggesting it was inappropriate in that context, though the exact thought behind it remained unclear. Records show Foy had a history of domestic violence, including a previous violent incident involving a firearm, and investigators noted an axe on his property during the investigation for Dale.

Alarmingly, Dale had previously warned authorities that she believed if anything happened to her, Foy would be responsible. Under a plea agreement, Foy is expected to serve between 23 years and life in prison, with the minimum being slightly less than the maximum term of 25 years. This agreement has the endorsement of Dale’s family.

Foy’s sentencing is set for December 16. The District Attorney emphasized the importance of recognizing the rights of victims in domestic violence cases, stating that Foy’s actions displayed a flagrant disregard for human life.
