Man Arrested After Allegedly Driving Car Into Pedestrians in London

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after allegedly driving a car into four pedestrians in London early on Christmas morning.

Just after midnight on Sunday, Metropolitan Police were called to the scene in Shaftesbury Street, Covent Garden, after reports a man was driving on the wrong side of the road.

Four pedestrians in the West End were injured, one in a life-threatening condition, the BBC reported. report.

The Metropolitan Police Department announced that a 31-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder. Police said the incident was isolated and not related to terrorism.

Assistant Director Stuart Cundy said The suspect is believed to have previously been involved in an “argument at a nightclub before getting into a car and onto the pavement.”

Cundy continued: “Officers responded quickly to this call and, working closely with City of London Police, arrested the man within minutes. Detectives are working rapidly with inquiries as part of this investigation. .”

“This has been confirmed to be an isolated incident not related to terrorism.”
