Incident In New Jersey
A young man, just 18 years old, is facing allegations after he reportedly approached a woman from behind while she was out strolling with her 2-year-old child. It’s been reported that he strangled her and then threw her to the ground.
This unsettling event took place on November 17, at Pinewood Road, according to the Howell Township Police Department. Howell, by the way, is located a little over thirty minutes east of Trenton.
Law enforcement shared that the suspect took off running after the woman cried out for help.
Further Allegations
Jaden Thompson, who is from Freehold, was charged on a Tuesday with endangering a child’s welfare and simple assault, both deemed serious offenses.
Interestingly, there was no immediate need to detain Thompson because, as of November 29, he was already in the Ocean County Jail due to other unrelated charges.
In fact, just shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day, police were called to an apartment complex regarding another incident where a woman had been stabbed by her ex-boyfriend. This took place in Jackson, about five miles west of Howell Township.
The victim’s relatives informed the police that Thompson was the perpetrator. It was reported that he got into an argument with the victim before stabbing her in the lower abdomen. After the attack, he fled the scene in a black 2012 Nissan Altima.
Following a two-day manhunt, Thompson was found in Edison. He had crashed his vehicle after a pursuit with law enforcement. He attempted to escape on foot but was soon apprehended and taken to the Jackson Police Detention Center.
In connection with the stabbing, he now faces a range of severe charges, which include:
- Attempted Murder (1st Degree)
- Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon (2nd Degree)
- Endangering the Welfare of a Child (2nd Degree)
- Possession of a Weapon for an Unlawful Purpose (3rd Degree)
- Illegal Possession of a Weapon (4th Degree)
- Trespassing
