Man Attempts to Set Fire to Himself During Rally Outside of White House

A man attempted to self-immolate outside the White House during a pro-Palestinian rally in Washington, D.C., on Saturday night.

video picture An article posted on X by Washington Free Beacon reporter Jessica Costescu shows a man attempting to “immolate himself in front of the White House.”

The man was seen standing surrounded by police officers and was heard saying things like “we spread false information” and claiming to be a “journalist”.

One of the man's arms appeared to have been burned, and the video showed someone pouring water on his arm.

The man reportedly self-immolated around 6pm during a pro-Palestinian protest. According to of washington post.

The newspaper said the two men “attempted to extinguish the fire” using their shirts and kaffiyeh as officers “lunged towards the men.”

Other protesters reportedly tried to use kaffiyeh to put out the fire. The newspaper reported that after the blaze was extinguished, the man claimed he was a journalist spreading false information.

Pamela A. Smith, Chief of Police of the Washington DC Metropolitan Police Department, said: statement It was confirmed that an “adult male who was participating in the demonstration” had “attempted to start the fire.”

“Metropolitan police officers and members of the public immediately extinguished the fire,” Smith said in a statement. “DC Fire and EMS responded and transported the man to an area hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.”
