Man believed to have inappropriately touched a woman on the Mount Rubidoux trail in Riverside

Investigation of Assault on Riverside Trail

A 77-year-old man, Toai Pham, has been arrested for allegedly molesting a woman on a well-known hiking trail in Southern California, and police are now looking into the possibility that he may have assaulted other women as well.

The Riverside Police Department confirmed Pham’s arrest on charges of sexual assault. He was processed at the Robert Presley Detention Center but was subsequently released on a $5,000 bail.

On March 9, a female hiker reported that a man approached her on the Mount Rubidoux Trail early in the morning and groped her without consent. Thankfully, she was not injured and quickly notified the police.

As the investigation unfolded, officers learned that Pham frequently hiked in that area during the mornings, raising suspicions that he might have committed similar offenses before. “Detectives are concerned there could be more victims who haven’t come forward,” the Riverside Police stated in a social media update.

Authorities are urging anyone who might have seen Pham or someone resembling him behaving inappropriately towards women at Mount Rubidoux to report their experiences.

In fact, several comments on the Riverside Police Department’s Facebook page pointed out that others have also had similar experiences with Pham. “There’s been a lot of chatter about this on the Next Door app,” one commenter noted.

Another individual remarked: “It hasn’t happened to me personally, but I did see the warnings. It might be worthwhile to share this there.” One more added, “People have said there are multiple incidents involving him touching women inappropriately.” It seems there have been a number of alerts regarding Pham’s behavior from members of the community.

On another note, a concerned user expressed relief that the situation was reported, saying, “If he’s found guilty, he needs to face consequences.” The Riverside Police Department was contacted for more information regarding the case.
