NEW YORK (AP) — A man wanted in connection with the attack on actor Steve Buscemi on a New York City street earlier this month was arrested Friday on assault charges, police said.
The 66-year-old star of “Boardwalk Empire” and “Fargo” was walking in midtown Manhattan on May 8 when he was punched in the face by an unknown man, city police said. He was taken to hospital with bruising, swelling and bleeding to his left eye, but was otherwise OK, a spokesperson said at the time.
Police charged a 50-year-old homeless man with second-degree assault Friday afternoon at the same police station where Buscemi was attacked. Authorities announced Tuesday that they had identified the man as a suspect and were searching for him.

It was not immediately clear whether the man has an attorney who can respond to the allegations. A phone message was left with the local public defender’s office.
A spokeswoman for Mr. Buscemi did not immediately return a message. In previous comments, the actor said he was “another victim of random acts of violence in the city” and that he would be okay.
In March, Buscemi’s “Boardwalk Empire” co-star Michael Stuhlbarg was struck in the back of the neck with a rock while walking through Manhattan’s Central Park. Stuhlbarg chased the attacker, who was taken into custody outside the park.
