Arrest Made in Arkansas Park Double Homicide

Law enforcement officials apprehended a suspect on Wednesday in connection with the murder of a couple at an Arkansas park.

This tragic incident occurred on Saturday in Devilsden State Park, located in Washington County, where the couple was killed in front of their young daughter, as reported by Breitbart News.

The suspect has been identified as 28-year-old James Andrew McGan from Springdale. The Arkansas State Police shared a photograph of him in a social media post confirming his arrest.

According to ASP, McGan was taken into custody before 5 PM at a business in Springdale. He now faces two counts of capital murder.

An arrest report detailed that McGan was getting a haircut in a beauty salon in Lupita when he was recognized. A salon employee posted about the situation online, which led detectives to come to the scene while McGan was still there. It appears he entered the premises through both the front and back doors before officers identified him and questioned whether the black sedan parked outside belonged to him.

Video footage captured by bystanders showed police working inside the salon, and another clip purportedly features the black vehicle with red tape marking it as evidence.

The victims, identified as Clinton Brink, 43, and Kristan Brink, 41, were enjoying a hike with their 7- and 9-year-old daughters when the tragedy struck. Thankfully, the children were unharmed and are currently being looked after by family members. The Brinks had recently relocated to the Prairie League Robe area.

Local law enforcement indicated that McGan had previously worked at Spring Creek Elementary School in Broken Arrow between 2023 and 2024. Interestingly, his name was removed from the Sand Springs Public Schools website early Thursday.

Authorities have not disclosed the motive for the murders, and it seems they do not believe McGan had any prior connection to the victims.

In a statement following McGan’s arrest, Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders acknowledged the severe impact on the Brink family and expressed gratitude toward law enforcement for their relentless efforts to catch the suspect. She remarked that while no actions could erase the harm done, this arrest serves as a measure of comfort and security for the community.
