Police said a 20-year-old man has been charged with murder and attempted murder after he stabbed Amy Gray and another woman on Bournemouth beach.
Nasen Saadi, from Croydon, south London, was arrested by Dorset Police on Wednesday.
Police said he was due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday.
Police were called at 11.42pm on May 24 to reports that two people had been stabbed on Durley Chine Beach.
Gray, 34, from Poole, died at the scene. A 38-year-old woman from Poole, whose name has not been released, sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital where she has since been released.
Dorset Police said: “Following detailed investigations led by detectives from the Major Crime Investigation Team (MCIT), Nathen Saadi, 20, from Croydon, was arrested on the evening of Wednesday 29th May 2024.”
“He has now been charged with murder and attempted murder and is due to appear at Poole Magistrates’ Court on Saturday 1 June 2024.”
Detective Superintendent Richard Dixey said: “Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of Amy Gray and the woman who was seriously injured, and we have updated them on the latest developments in the investigation.”
“This matter has been the subject of an extensive investigation and we are currently in discussions with the Crown Prosecution Service, who have authorised murder and attempted murder charges.”
“This means that the case will now have active trial in court and it is vital that the justice system follows that trial process.”
“It is also important to emphasise that there will be no further comments or sharing of information online or on social media that may have a detrimental effect on the court proceedings.”
Tributes were paid to Gray, who was a personal trainer and women’s head coach at the Dorset Futsal Club, earlier this week.
Her wife, Sian Gray, said: “Her giggle and big smile will be hard to miss. A larger-than-life character.”
“My love, I will miss you so much, to the moon and back, forever.”
One friend posted on social media: “Amy Gray, take care! I miss you so much. So heavy for me! You were such a great friend and someone I could talk to about anything. You were a beautiful person inside and out. Thank you for the laughs and memories I will cherish forever.”
