There was a man be charged with murder Friday after shooting a man in the head as he abandoned his car at an ATM in Philadelphia, jumped in his car and drove away.
Officers responded to a shooting at Frankford and Pratt streets in the city's northeast corner just after 3 p.m. KYW-TV reported.
Police announced Sunday that 39-year-old Sherwayne Garrison has been charged with murder, KYW reported in a follow-up.
According to police, the man who was using the ATM abandoned his car, and another man jumped on it and tried to steal it. According to WPVI-TVThe 48-year-old man jumped into the car and eventually drove off with the car, but the car's owner fired one shot, hitting him in the head.
Police told WPVI that the injured man crashed his Honda into another car on Pratt Street outside the Frankford Transportation Center. Police told KYW the man who pulled the trigger added that he had a license to carry a gun.
The police homicide unit told KYW that the man who was shot was taken to Temple University Hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 6:17 p.m.
Authorities said Southeastern Pennsylvania Transit Authority police took the man who pulled the trigger into custody, KYW added.
