Man Charged with Planning Deadly Assault on U.S. Military Base for ISIS

A man was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly plotting a mass shooting at a military base in Warren, Michigan, claiming he was acting on behalf of Iraq and an extremist group known as ISIS.

The arrested individual has been identified as 19-year-old Ammar Abdulmajid-Mohamed from Melvindale. Reports indicate he is a former member of the Michigan Army National Guard, according to the U.S. Department of Justice’s announcement regarding the charges.

Authorities noted that the suspect attempted to provide material support to foreign terrorist organizations and shared information about harmful devices.

The complaint revealed that he informed two undercover officers about his plans, which he had formulated at the U.S. Army Tank and Automotive Command (TACOM) facility in Detroit Arsenal. In April 2025, undercover agents expressed their intention to execute his plan under ISIS’s guidance. They aided him significantly by supplying ammunition and magazines for armament, recce drone operations, firearm training for undercover agents, and even plans to create Molotov cocktails.

On May 13, the scheduled date for the attack, he was apprehended after traveling near TACOM and preparing a drone to assist the operation. He is set to appear in court in the Eastern District of Michigan today. The federal prosecutors want him held in pretrial detention due to community safety concerns and the risk of him fleeing.

Prior to his arrest, it was reported by Fox 2 that undercover agents had determined he would not survive the mass shooting.

He allegedly told them, “It won’t come out. It’s a one-way entrance.”

“The defendant is charged with orchestrating a lethal attack on a U.S. military base on behalf of ISIS. Thanks to the relentless efforts of law enforcement, we were able to thwart the attack before any lives were lost,” stated Sue J. Bai, director of the Justice Department’s National Security Bureau.

The arrest occurred following President Donald Trump’s statement in March about the death of an “Iraqi ISIS fugitive leader,” as reported by Breitbart News.

“He was cornered by courageous fighters. His wretched life came to an end with another ISIS member, in collaboration with the Iraqi and Kurdish local governments. Peace through strength!”

Dr. Sebastian Gorka, Senior Director for Counterterrorism at the National Security Council, recently remarked on how Trump’s approach to eliminating jihadist terrorists differs significantly from President Biden’s strategy.
