A Colorado man was shot early Saturday morning when he checked his brother's apartment following a security camera alert and came face-to-face with an armed robber who pulled the trigger and fled.
The 25-year-old shooting victim lives in the Thornton apartment complex on East 104th Street with his brother, who was not home at the time. ABC 7 Denver reported.
But around 2:40 a.m., when the security system alerted his absent brother to the unit's removal, he called and asked his brother to check on him.
When the unidentified victim entered the home, the suspect quickly pulled a gun, squeezing out at least one bullet and fleeing with unnamed valuables, according to the Thornton Police Department.
Authorities rushed him to a hospital, where he is expected to survive. Meanwhile, the suspect is yet to be heard from after the horrifying encounter.
Surveillance cameras captured photos of the gunman wearing a black mask, gray sweatpants, a black sweatshirt and what appeared to be a black puffy vest.
Police believe this is an isolated incident, but are asking anyone with information to call the Thornton Police Department tip line at 720-977-5069.
