Arrest Made at Palm Beach Airport
Early on Tuesday morning, a man was taken into custody at Palm Beach County Airport after law enforcement discovered an AR-15 rifle and several knives in his car, which was parked in a restricted area.
Deputies from the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office (PBSO) responded around 7:10 AM after airport personnel reported suspicious individuals near a dark vehicle in the secure parking lot.
Upon arrival, officers found a man identified as Michael Rodriguez, 41, who did not appear to have a local address listed. They had initially believed the vehicle was a rental and opened the glove compartment, where a fully loaded AR-15 magazine was uncovered.
A thorough search of the vehicle revealed not just the magazine but also fully loaded AR-15 rifles and multiple knives hidden beneath a seat blanket. Rodriguez was safely apprehended and is currently being questioned by a detective.
While charges have yet to be formally filed, the investigation continues. Authorities are in the process of securing a search warrant to further probe the vehicle and its contents.
The airport, known to serve President Trump, is currently not hosting him, as confirmed by local authorities.
According to law enforcement sources, there was no active threat identified, and the motivations behind Rodriguez’s actions remain unclear at this point.
This is an evolving story, so updates may follow.
