A man was charged in October with killing a pregnant woman and her two unborn babies in Wentzville, Missouri.
Grand jury indicts Darryl K. Tyson Jr., 39, in the death of 28-year-old Breanna Johnson, who was pregnant with twins, First Alert 4 reported He is charged with three counts of first-degree murder, three counts of armed criminal action and domestic assault.
Prosecutors say he shot and killed Johnson and her two unborn children. Prosecutors say Tyson and Johnson were in a relationship.
The incident occurred on October 31, 2023, in the 100 block of Katie Lynn Court. Wentzville police responded to the scene and found Johnson dead. According to reports, Johnson was four months pregnant with twins and also had two other children, ages 6 months and 17 months.
According to reports, Tyson had previously been arrested for domestic violence. Police investigated Johnson's death as a domestic violence situation.
“JADASA, an advocacy group for domestic violence victims, told First Alert 4 after Mr. Johnson's death that Mr. Johnson had sought help several months earlier,” the report said.
Police were called to Johnson's home 24 hours before he died. Tyson allegedly “threw a phone at her and physically assaulted her.” [her] in his head,” court documents state.
A grand jury formally handed up an indictment on December 19, and a judge set Tyson's bail at $1 million, cash only, according to reports.
