A man was stabbed to death in a Manhattan subway station during the evening rush hour on Friday, police said.
According to the New York Police Department, the 40-year-old victim was attacked just before 6 p.m. at the ticket gates of the station at the intersection of 175th Street and Fort Washington Avenue in Washington Heights.
He suffered several stab wounds to his torso.
The victim was rushed to Harlem Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing.
Deadly violence on the subway on Friday night left passengers feeling unsettled.
“It’s insanity. It’s absolutely insane. It’s really bad out here,” said Isaac Santiago, of Lebanon, Pennsylvania.
“Every time I come here something happens. It has to stop,” said the 22-year-old, who opted to take an Uber on Friday night because the A train was bypassing the station.
Hospital worker Ayan Malakar’s evening commute from Fort Lee, New Jersey, to downtown Manhattan was also suspended.
“I’ve never heard of anyone being stabbed here,” Malakar, 38, said.
“It’s shocking. All of a sudden someone gets stabbed. It’s definitely scary. It’s something to be concerned about.”
