Florida Man Found Guilty of Killing Pregnant Girlfriend
A man from Florida, Donovan Faison, 23, has been convicted of first-degree murder in the death of his pregnant girlfriend, Kaylin Fiengo, who was just 18 years old. He was also charged with robbery and is facing the possibility of the death penalty, as his trial entered the sentencing phase.
The tragic incident occurred on November 11, 2022, when Faison allegedly shot Fiengo in the head while she was in her car at Coastline Park in Sanford. Law enforcement apprehended him almost ten months later after gathering evidence suggesting that Fiengo had invited him to the park, which ultimately led to her death and that of her unborn child.
According to the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, investigators uncovered text messages exchanged between Faison and Fiengo that revealed she was distressed about her pregnancy. Fiengo had initially notified him of her pregnancy by sharing a photo of a positive test, to which Faison expressed disbelief, prompting her to respond with a blunt, “Abortion!!!”
During the trial, prosecutors contended that Faison was overwhelmed and angry because he was living with another woman, whom he suspected of infidelity.
They also highlighted messages between Faison and a friend, showing Fiengo’s firm stance against terminating her pregnancy. In a particularly chilling text, Faison mentioned he would act violently on her brother’s grave.
They argued that Faison arranged to meet Fiengo at the park shortly after these communications. Once there, he allegedly shot her, leaving both her and the unborn child in the vehicle. At the crime scene, an ultrasound image was discovered next to her body.
Moreover, one of Fiengo’s friends testified that she had mentioned meeting Faison at the park the night of the shooting.
As the prosecution laid out their case, they pointed out that Faison had previously expressed to a friend his intentions to kill her. “He said he would do it, and he did. The police got the right guy,” remarked Domenic Leo, a witness.
As of now, Faison’s defense attorney has yet to offer any comments to the media regarding the case.
