Tragic Incident in Atlanta Involving Child
In a shocking series of events in Atlanta, police responded to a domestic dispute call late on March 14. Upon arrival, they heard a terrified scream from the mother, urging, “Stop! Rashad, stop it! Help!” just before silence fell over the line.
Officers found a 4-year-old girl suffering from multiple stab wounds, being held by 35-year-old Rashad Dixon. They managed to separate the child from Dixon using de-escalation techniques.
Tragically, the girl succumbed to her injuries shortly after arriving at a hospital. Dixon was subsequently arrested after receiving treatment for his own lacerations.
Investigators indicate that Dixon’s violent act stemmed from anger towards the child’s mother, who he felt abandoned him.
Audio obtained from the 911 call captures the harrowing plea of the girl’s mother, repeatedly calling for help. Prosecutors allege that in an attempt to prevent emergency help, Dixon stabbed the phone. He then attempted to hide his actions by breaking a window of the mother’s car before injuring himself.
Dixon faces multiple charges, including:

- Aggravated assault
- Battery
- First-degree child abuse
- Possession of a knife during the commission of a felony
- Unlawful imprisonment
- Two counts of criminal damage to property
- Simple assault
District Attorney Fani Willis described the case as “horrific,” emphasizing that it highlighted the tragic consequences of domestic violence. She expressed intent to seek a life sentence for Dixon.
Executive District Attorney Simone Hilton noted the emotional toll of the case, stating that the extent of the violence reflected the extremes seen in domestic situations.
