Motorcyclist in Florida Leads Police on High-Speed Chase
A man in Florida is facing serious allegations after reportedly leading police on a chase while sporting a rather unconventional motorcycle helmet—a bunny one, to be precise. The pursuit began late Sunday night when authorities from the Florida Highway Patrol noticed a motorcyclist along Route 19 in Pasco County, apparently driving recklessly and with his license plate turned upward.
According to reports, the chase kicked off after the motorcyclist failed to stop for a traffic violation. This wasn’t just an ordinary incident; the individual, later identified as 29-year-old Dalton Hubbert, allegedly reached speeds of up to 190 mph and disregarded several traffic signals, running red lights in the process. It’s hard to believe someone would be so reckless, but here we are.
The high-speed pursuit came to an end just before 11:30 p.m. when Hubbert finally stopped on Commercial Way in North Weeki Wachee and surrendered to the officers. It’s a wonder someone wasn’t injured during that wild ride.
Hubbert was taken into custody, and authorities confirmed several charges against him, including reckless driving, felony eluding, and driving more than 80 mph over the speed limit. What’s more, he’s also accused of using or displaying a weapon during the commission of a felony. A photo released by the Florida Highway Patrol shows him in the fluffy white rabbit helmet while being apprehended.
The situation’s certainly bizarre, and it raises some questions about decision-making on the road. It’s difficult to wrap your head around what could lead someone to such extremes. The Florida Highway Patrol has yet to comment further on the incident.
