Suspect in Chucky Mask Targets Joggers in Philadelphia

In Philadelphia, a man wearing a mask resembling the infamous Chucky doll is being sought for allegedly harassing six individuals. It seems he randomly approached a woman who was jogging, coldly asking her if she was “prepared to die,” according to police reports.

The suspect, described as a black male between the ages of 16 and 20, managed to elude capture after making threats to various pedestrians during a tense 15-minute span on Wednesday morning.

At a recent press conference, Philadelphia Police Chief Jason Smith shared some details. He mentioned that shortly after 5:20 a.m., the suspect walked into a Dunkin’ Donuts, donning a striking Chucky doll Halloween mask, but was refused service due to his erratic demeanor.

Following that, he proceeded to run up to nearby individuals, seemingly for some twisted enjoyment.

It was reported that the same masked man chased a man dressed in a reflective vest, again making unsettling remarks.

Later, he confronted the woman who had been jogging, which prompted her to call the police. The chief recounted, “He held his cell phone up in front of her and asked, ‘Are you ready to die?'” After an initial pause, he repeated the question. Clearly startled, the woman sprinted away, injuring her leg in the process while calling out for help.

Smith noted that the woman was understandably frightened—she was running for her safety, clearly not prepared for such a confrontation.

The suspect now faces multiple charges including terroristic threats, assault, and harassment. Additionally, police indicated he might face weapon-related charges after he mysteriously tucked his right arm behind his back at the moment he made the threat, although surveillance footage did not reveal any weapon present.

A witness named Jameka shared how he attempted to alert the jogger. He recalled waving his arms from across the street, shouting, “There’s someone behind you, look behind you.” Afterward, he confronted the masked individual, even kicking him in the chest.

“He seemed really unsure about what he actually wanted,” Jameka expressed. “Even though I had a bag, he didn’t seem to want to take it.”

As the investigation progresses, Chief Smith reassured the public, stating, “We are committed to doing everything we can to track this person down.” Meanwhile, Kate Egan, who works nearby, expressed her concern, saying that encountering a threat like this while simply trying to go to work is unsettling.

“I really hope he gets caught,” she added, echoing the fears of many in the community.
