The NYPD has reported a tragic incident in Queens involving a father who attacked his wife and their two-year-old daughter with a knife. The 54-year-old man, who is currently in custody, used an Apple video app to communicate with his nephew while committing the assault, stabbing his wife 18 times and his daughter nine times in Ridgewood.
As the horrifying scene unfolded, his nephew, witnessing the attack through the video, called 911. When authorities arrived, they discovered the father had also inflicted serious injuries on himself.
The murder scene deeply shocked relatives who arrived afterward, describing the situation as horrific. Family members mentioned that the suspect had a history of threatening his wife, stating on multiple occasions that he would kill her one day, according to a neighbor.
One neighbor recalled, “He told her many times, ‘One day, I’ll kill you.’ That suggests he had been planning this.”
On that fateful day, the couple’s two sons were desperately trying to reach their mother, leading to immense panic among family members. A neighbor described the overwhelming reactions of the sons, noting the chaos and emotional turmoil as they grasped the reality of what had happened.
The assault stunned the community, which had perceived the family as seemingly typical and quiet. Several residents mentioned they had never witnessed any altercations between the couple.
Emergency responders attempted to revive the victims, with one neighbor expressing disbelief over how shocking the event was, describing the family as just ordinary people.
The mother and daughter were rushed to a nearby hospital, while the father was taken to Elmhurst Hospital, where he remains in critical condition.
