Repeat Offender Arrested in DeKalb County Attacks

The individual linked to a series of violent acts in DeKalb County, Georgia, has been identified as a repeat offender and a naturalized U.S. citizen originally from the United Kingdom, as per the Department of Homeland Security.

Twenty-six-year-old Olaolukitan Adon Abel was taken into custody on Monday after he allegedly killed two individuals and wounded another in what authorities described as random assaults in Georgia.

Abel faces multiple charges, including two counts of murder, aggravated assault, and weapons offenses in relation to these incidents, which involved the death of a staff member from DHS.

According to the DHS, Abel, who became a naturalized citizen in 2022, arrived from Britain during the Biden administration.

One victim, Lauren Bliss, 40, was confirmed by DHS to have worked in the Office of Inspector General. She was discovered shot and stabbed while walking her dog on Battle Forest Drive. Witnesses said they saw a man standing over her before he fled the area.

DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin commented, “Yesterday, DHS employee Lauren Bliss was brutally shot and stabbed to death by Mr. Olaolukitan Adon Abel, 26, a British-born citizen who was naturalized by the Biden administration in 2022. Since President Trump’s inauguration, USCIS has taken steps to prevent individuals with criminal records and other moral decency from obtaining citizenship.”

Before Bliss’s tragic death, law enforcement found another woman shot multiple times outside a Checkers restaurant on Wesley Chapel Road. She succumbed to her injuries later on.

In addition, a homeless individual sleeping outside a shopping center on Peachtree Road in Brookhaven was assaulted and shot several times. He is currently in critical condition.

Abel was ultimately apprehended in Troup County after police utilized a license plate recognition system to track his vehicle.

His criminal history reportedly includes an arrest last fall for sexual battery in Chatham County, leading to a prison sentence and probation, which included a mandatory mental health evaluation.

In a statement, Secretary Mullin noted Abel’s criminal background, which encompasses convictions for serious offenses, including sexual assault and assault on a police officer. He emphasized, “These acts of pure evil have devastated our ministry. Our prayers are with the families of the victims.”
