Man killed in shooting, innocent woman injured near Fordham University.

A man, 57 years old and using a walker, was shot in the head during an incident near Fordham University on Sunday, leaving a 34-year-old woman injured as well, according to police and other sources.

The victim, identified as Kevin Jennings, was shot when an assailant opened fire on East 188th Avenue and Marion Avenue in Fordham Heights.

The woman, who was nearby, suffered a gunshot wound to her leg, as stated by law enforcement officials.

Authorities are looking into whether Jennings, who lived about three miles away, was specifically targeted or just caught in the wrong place at the wrong time. The woman was reportedly an innocent bystander, according to police.

Both were taken to St. Barnabas Hospital, where Jennings was pronounced dead, while the woman’s condition was stabilized.

Witnesses reported seeing the shooter, described as wearing a black T-shirt and red pants, but he managed to flee the scene.

This incident adds to a troubling trend in the city, with at least three innocent bystanders recorded as victims of gunfire in just the past month.

Earlier in April, Exenia Mette, a 61-year-old bodega owner and well-known community member, was killed when she went outside to check on her grandson and was struck by a stray bullet.

Just a day before, Daoud Marji, a 28-year-old plumber apprentice, lost his life to another random shooting in the Bronx.

Additionally, a 16-year-old named Evett Jeffrey was shot in a schoolyard caught in gang-related violence last week.

Two teenagers have been arrested in connection with one of the shootings. A 14-year-old shooter and a 13-year-old boy are accused of supplying the gun. The younger teen was reportedly taken into custody on Monday.
