On Tuesday afternoon, a man was brutally killed outside a subway station in downtown Brooklyn, while his attacker, who is still at large, fired a gun through his pocket as he fled, according to police reports.
Officers found the victim, a man in his 50s who has not been named, outside the Jay Street Metrotech station around 3:07 p.m. He was unresponsive with serious injuries to his face and body.
Officials indicated that the assailant—believed to be in his 20s—repeatedly struck the victim in the face and stomped on his head as many as 15 times, which led to a skull fracture.
After the brutal attack, the suspect rummaged through the victim’s wallet, backpack, and pockets, leaving them scattered about, as seen in security footage.
Sadly, the victim was taken to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital Brooklyn Methodist in critical condition and was pronounced dead shortly after 4:30 p.m.
The attacker was last seen wearing black pants with yellow stripes, along with a black shirt sporting white lettering and blue loafers with socks.
At this stage, authorities are still trying to determine what sparked the violence, and no arrests have been made.
Interestingly, about 45 minutes later, another violent incident occurred when a 43-year-old man was slashed in the face and neck at the Jackson Heights-Roosevelt Avenue station in Queens around 3:50 p.m.
That victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital and is reportedly in stable condition. A knife was found at the scene, but again, there hasn’t been any arrest.
The investigation continues as police actively search for the suspects involved in both incidents.
