Man pretending to be an Uber driver picks up two sisters, assaults one after she dozes off in the vehicle.

On Friday, prosecutors in San Francisco revealed the harrowing ordeal faced by two sisters after mistakenly getting into the wrong Uber, resulting in one sister being raped.

In October 2025, Yucel Elilmaz, 44, believed he was picking up the sisters from a nightclub in the Mission District, and drove them away in his vehicle.

Reportedly, Elilmaz attempted to kiss the sister in the front seat, but she rebuffed him. When they reached their location, this sister exited the vehicle; however, before she could rouse her sister in the back seat, Elilmaz sped off, according to prosecutors.

After the incident, the sister called 911 to report the attack, but was unable to track down the driver or her sister, who didn’t have a phone.

Surveillance footage later showed Elilmaz parking at an apartment complex, leaving the vehicle, and then climbing into the back seat with the victim, locking the doors behind him.

Hours later, the victim awoke feeling “scared and confused,” with Elilmaz on top of her. Despite her saying “no,” he allegedly restrained her and bit her neck. She managed to escape after about ten minutes and used his phone to contact her sister.

During that call, she learned that police were looking for her, and her brother was absent. Following this, she fled Elilmaz’s apartment and sought assistance from her sister again.

Prosecutors praised the work of victim advocates and highlighted the extensive investigation conducted by the San Francisco Police Department’s Special Victims Unit.

A jury found Elilmaz guilty of two serious felonies: one count of rape of an unconscious person and another for assault with intent to commit rape.

The sentencing is set for June 18. Elilmaz is currently in custody and could face over ten years in prison for his actions.

San Francisco District Attorney Brooke Jenkins affirmed that the jury’s decision ensures accountability for Elilmaz. She expressed gratitude to the victim for her bravery in navigating the difficult legal process. Assistant District Attorney Abigail Adams commended the victim’s courage and candor while recounting the traumatic events during her testimony.
