Recently, a scuba diving adventure in Fiji turned into a remarkable marriage proposal that took place underwater.
Kim Patterson shared her surprise when her partner insisted they stand side by side. She felt a bit confused and, to be honest, somewhat annoyed. Just as another diver was ready to snap a photo, her partner got down on one knee and produced a ring. “I was completely shocked when he brought out the ring,” she recalled, struggling to process what was happening.
After the proposal, which included a sweet kiss underwater, she remarked, “In my excitement, I used up more air on that dive, so I don’t remember much about the wreck. I’ll probably need to go back to explore it properly.”
The couple’s heartfelt moment occurred near the wreck of a ship named Salamanda, a popular dive site in the area. It drew in a lot of attention, and once they resurfaced, their dive crew and fellow divers joined in the celebration.
To cap off the occasion, they returned to their resort for some celebratory champagne. The Pattersons originally met in 2021 and tied the knot in December 2024. They’ve maintained their love for scuba diving, having an unforgettable honeymoon in the Maldives where they encountered majestic whale sharks and manta rays.
According to scuba diving enthusiasts, the wreck site of MV Salamanda is known for its unique structure, still standing upright on the ocean floor, creating a striking sight for divers. The experience is said to be quite immersive, resembling a ship that had halted mid-journey.
