New York Man Arrested for Double Homicide at Family Deli
A man from New York was recently arrested after police reported that he fatally stabbed both his mother and father inside the family-run deli. The event took place last week, sending shockwaves through the community.
The accused has been identified as Vito D’Ambrosio, 30 years old. Authorities say the incident unfolded around 9:11 a.m. on a Thursday morning at the A&A Italian Deli located in Bethpage.
Officers were first called to the scene due to reports of a man in the deli parking lot with blood on his hands and clothes. Upon arrival, they found D’Ambrosio there and took him into custody. Following this, they entered the deli to discover the bodies of his parents, both having suffered stab wounds to the throat, behind the counter.
According to police, D’Ambrosio is alleged to have attacked his mother first before turning on his father. In a bizarre turn of events, investigators revealed that just half an hour after the stabbings, D’Ambrosio had entered a nearby coffee shop and inappropriately touched a female employee before heading to the deli.
Authorities reported that he was taken into custody and then transported to a hospital for evaluation. At the time of this tragedy, D’Ambrosio was out on bail related to a domestic incident involving one of his brothers, which had also led to an order of protection issued on November 14. It appears he had a history of problems with law enforcement, including an arrest in Florida.
Reportedly, he had been estranged from his parents after a family-related incident the previous month. The community is now grappling with the shock of losing two well-respected individuals recognized for their kindness.
One friend remembered the victims fondly, stating, “They would do anything to help others. If you didn’t have enough money for food, they’d let you have it and say to pay them later.” This person expressed disbelief about the events, calling it heartbreaking.
As of now, the Nassau County District Attorney’s Office and D’Ambrosio’s legal team have not responded to inquiries regarding the case.
