Shocking body camera footage worn by a Phoenix police officer shows the dramatic rescue of a man trapped in a car that submerged in a swimming pool last month.
A witness called Phoenix police after seeing a man drive into the back of a residential pool just after 2 a.m. on Halloween.
When responding officers arrived, they jumped into the pool, onto the roof of the car and began hitting the sunroof window with a metal rod, according to body camera footage released by police Tuesday.

The footage then shows officers breaking the glass and a man wearing yellow work clothes bursting through the roof and out of the water.
He seems to be giving a thumbs up to the people who saved his life.
Officers were then able to safely pull the soaking wet and grateful man out of the pool.
A voice confirms that the driver is the only person in the car.

The driver was taken to a local hospital as a precautionary measure.
It is unclear whether impairment was a factor in the crash.
