A Danish man who stuck 68 matches up his nose has become the new Guinness World Record holder for the most matches stuck in his nose, the magazine reported on Thursday, February 15th.
According to the Guinness World Records website, Denmark’s Peter von Tangen Buskov, 39, is the first person to hold the record for “most matches played through the nose.”
According to the website, at least 45 matches had to be inserted into the nostrils to achieve this record.

Von Tangen Buskov did not stop at the age of 45 and played 23 more matches before calling it quits at the age of 68.

Surprisingly, von Tangen Buskov claims that the record attempt was “not that painful”.
“My nostrils are quite large and my skin is very stretchy. I’m sure that helped a lot,” he told Guinness World Records.

Von Tangen-Buskov set the record for “most matches performed with the nose,” but by either “training” the nostrils to accept more matches, or letting nature take its course. He is open to the idea of breaking his own record in the future.
“Maybe your nose grows as you get older,” he told Guinness World Records.

Von Tangen Buskov came up with the record for “most matches played by nose” for himself, thinking of “fun records” that he might set or break.
He also said that he had no history of having a foreign object inserted into his nose, and that the idea for recording this record was “a bit of an afterthought.”

Von Tangen Buskov hopes his “unusual record” will help others “remind themselves to play a little bit.”
