A Heartwarming Reunion in Chicago
It’s a story straight out of a movie.
A man from Chicago has been joyfully reunited with his cherished dog, ten long years after she went missing. The touching moment was shared on TikTok, capturing the hearts of viewers everywhere.
Edmond Lighthall’s mixed breed, Peter, vanished from his family’s backyard back in 2015. Then, on September 22nd, Lighthall received a remarkable text from a microchip registry company informing him that Peter had been found.
After the notification, he reached out to Hammond Animal Control, a shelter about 45 minutes away, and discovered that his dog had been taken into custody by police while roaming the streets.
The very next day, Lighthall made the trip to pick up his furry companion, who he affectionately calls “his own shadow.”
“I just couldn’t believe it,” Lighthall recalled. “When he came out and greeted me, it felt like he recognized me immediately.” He shared with ABC News that Peter, after a moment of spinning around, lay down in front of him, solidifying the belief that this was indeed his long-lost dog.
Excited, Lighthall gathered family and friends in a park to give Peter a warm welcome home.
“We had a nice picnic and I introduced him to his sister,” he expressed. “There were also a few other dogs from our friends and family. It was just a really beautiful experience.”
Lighthall always held onto hope, believing in his heart that he would one day see Peter again. “I often said, ‘If he’s alive, I’m sure I’ll find him,’” he recalled, adding that people usually smiled at his optimism, unsure of what to make of his conviction.
