Texas Man Arrested After Shooting Step-Sister’s Intruder
A Texas man was taken into custody after he shot his step-sister’s intruder, whom he found peeking through the bathroom window.
Quintin Mitchell, 24, faces aggravated assault charges for defending his family’s home in Houston early Friday morning. The alleged intruder, described as having vandalized a bathroom window, reportedly identified as a peeping Tom, was armed with a hammer and a butcher knife during the incident that unfolded around 5 a.m.
Meanwhile, the police seemed unfazed by the situation, even though, under such circumstances, one might expect more caution.
“I feel really uneasy living here,” shared Dellion Davis, Mitchell’s wife, with KTRK-TV. It seems fair to say the neighborhood hasn’t been the safest lately.
Conta Davis, Davis’s sister, recounted waking up to the surprise of seeing someone at the bathroom window. “He was asking me if I had a cigarette,” she recalled, which must have been bizarre and unsettling.
For a brief moment, Konta and Mitchell managed to scare the intruder off. However, he returned hours later, smashing the window to gain access.
“I’m just shocked by how bold he was,” Mitchell’s step-sister said. It’s one thing to be caught, but coming back after starting a confrontation? That seems outrageous.
It’s worth noting that just after the disturbance, the family managed to confront the alleged intruder outside. Mitchell then shot him in the leg, which, understandably, prompted an immediate call to the police.
However, in a twist, it was Mitchell who ended up facing consequences from the Houston police. “I really don’t think he should be treated this way,” said Dellion Davis, defending her husband. “He was acting in self-defense—anyone would have done the same.” It’s a classic case of protectiveness gone wrong, or at least, complicated.
