A man was stabbed to death outside a Berkeley center in Brooklyn after being attacked by a group of teens, police and sources said.
Police and sources say Michael Hernandez was walking near Flatbush and Atlantic streets and stabbed him once and multiple times in the chest around 9pm on Friday.
Hernandez, 27, was able to leave, but later collapsed near Flatbush Avenue and Atlantic Avenue, sources said.
He was taken to the New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, where he later died.
The 55-year-old, who lives in an apartment overlooking the shooting scene, heard screaming around 9pm, but thought he was a teenager whom he had heard in a row a few hours ago.
“Like around nine in the evening, I hear some noise and scream,” said engineer Bjorn Breivik.
“I thought it was fun for young people.”
About 15 or 20 minutes later, he heard the officer, the Norwegian native said.
“There were a lot of policemen, six or seven cars, about 25 policemen,” he said.
“I saw a puddle that I thought was blood. …It was in the middle of the street.”

“It's really bad,” he said.
“He's a human, and someone does it with a purpose.”
Frode Thorsen, 60, also a Norwegian engineer, walked around the area with dog Taks, visibly shaking as he learned about murder.
“Ah, yes!” Thorsen said.
“It's not good that someone was killed.”
Thorsen sometimes walks the dog until 11pm, but he's not worried, he said.
“I have a dog that watches over me,” he said.
“He will let me know if anyone is approaching me.”
Retired Professor Linda Farhood Karasavva, 76, often travels from Manhattan to Brooklyn, calling the murder “disgusting” on the way to watch the show.
“It's going on too much,” she said. “I'm a mother… Can't you imagine losing your child like that and being murdered?
For her, it was “the whole city is falling apart,” she said.
“I love this city,” she said. “I was born here and I hate seeing it go down like this. I live in the world and travel anywhere, and I'm always happy to be able to get home, but this isn't.”
