An Oklahoma man has been arrested for sharing child pornography with South Carolina Representative Robert “RJ” a month after the former lawmaker’s own arrest.
Christian Soto, who has a troubling history that includes threats against his ex-girlfriend, was apprehended as part of an FBI investigation into an online exchange of over 220 explicit files related to child pornography in May.
Soto now faces more serious federal charges including the receipt and possession of child pornography, as well as possession of ammunition.
Both men, aged 38, were arrested in June at their homes after it was revealed that they used the online alias “Joebidennnn69” to share explicit content involving young children for five days last spring.
The representative, who was in his third term, reportedly sought out content described as “bad moms” from Soto, who went by the username “Random Kaufure.”
They exchanged files using Kik and reportedly shared more than 50 explicit files. Documents indicate that some of the material involved sexual abuse of minors.
When Soto was taken into custody, authorities found numerous digital items in his car and home, including more child sexual abuse materials.
Additionally, authorities seized videos during his May arrest that depicted him engaging in sexual acts with three women resembling minors while in Colombia.
It’s currently unclear if other individuals were involved in similar exchanges.
While in the House of Representatives, the lawmaker was known for publicly opposing LGBTQ+ policies, emphasizing the importance of protecting children from perceived harm.
Each of the ten charges he faces could lead to a prison sentence ranging from five to twenty years.
Soto is being held without bail until his trial in May, and his two young children are thought to be among the victims depicted in the material.
This investigation started after Kik alerted the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children of suspicious activities in April 2024.
